Mrs. Joyce Beverly Lucious, a native of Mobile, Alabama departed this life on Sunday, August 11, 2019. Joyce was the daughter the late Sylvia Beverly and the late James Byrd. She graduated from Central High School, Mobile, Alabama, Class of 1967, and received various certifications in the field of education. After 30 years of service to the Mobile County Schools, she retired from Florence Howard Elementary School. Joyce confessed her faith in Christ at an early age. As a faithful member of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church, she served on various ministries including Matrons, Sunday School Teacher, Drama , Mission, Vacation Bible School and sang in the choir. Joyce was united in holy matrimony to her childhood sweetheart Jones Allen Lucious. Mrs. Beverly Lucious was preceded in death by by several sibling: Pearline Beverly, Freddie Beverly, Peggy Beverly (Mobile, AL), Leola Simmons, PhD, (Dallas, TX), Staff Sgt. Carl Simmons (Mobile/Dallas, TX). Cherishing her loving memories are her son Roderick Cornellius(Donna) Lucious Dallas,TX ; her daughter, Dr. Erika L. (Bryan M. ) Rutledge, Birmingham, AL; beautiful granddaughter, Erlandrya J. Rutledge (Landi) Birmingham, AL; five siblings: Viola Henderson Mobile, AL, Cleo (Gwen), Simmons, Dallas, TX, Carolyn Simmons ,Dallas, TX, Anita(Fred) Byrd Roberts Tampa, FL., Diane(Bill) Baliem; two cousins, Debra Mack and Catherine Packer; two nephews, Derrick Henderson and Cleo Bouler; one great nephew, Nicholas Henderson; one great niece, Maria Henderson; Devoted Family friends, Eileen Hose, Gary and Jean Hudson; the Entire Smith Family, Cleveland Johnson, Rose Smith, Shirley Williams and Martha Lee and a host of loving neighbors and church members.
