Obituary for Diane Roland

Diane Deloris Lacey Roland was born Saturday August 29, 1953 to Barbara Jean Lacey and Donald King in Mobile, Alabama and she accepted her angel wings at 5:15 p.m. Thursday May 23, 2019. Both of her parents preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two of her six siblings her brother Eric Christopher Fitzgerald Lacey and her sister Alice Marie Lacey. At an early age Diane accepted Christ as her personal Savior and united with the Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the auspices of Rev. Percy L. Ely. Diane was an active member of the Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist for many years, where she served on the Usher Board and as a member of the Deaconess Board.
Diane was an alumnus of Mattie T. Blount High School and an active member of the Mattie T. Blount Alumni Association until her death. She immensely enjoyed reminiscing and traveling the world with her fellow alums. She also enjoyed her many excursions along the coast of Southern Mississippi where she spent many leisure hours.
Diane leaves behind to cherish her memory a devoted husband Victor Roland they were married for thirty (30) years; she leaves two very gifted and accomplished children her daughter Petrina Lacey and a son Santeria Lacey a retired United States Marine. Five granddaughters Kourtney Lacey of Huntsville, Alabama, Jasmine Lacey, Nasia Pope, Sincere Pope and Santieria Lacey all of Mobile, Alabama and one grandson Santeria Lacey Jr., of Winnipeg, Canada. Three great-granddaughters; Kinzlee Lacey of Huntsville, Alabama, Kayleigh Marie Lacey and Brooklyn White of Mobile, Alabama, Four sisters Sylvia Marsha Shelley of Huntsville, Alabama, Deborah Awadu, Skyletta Lacey, and Vanessa Lacey all of Mobile, Alabama. Three devoted friends; Carolyn Robinson Lane, Barbara Archie and Betsy Nobles of Mobile, Alabama and a host of nieces one devoted Marsha Denise Davis, nephews, cousins, several sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws, and other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be at Small’s Mortuary Friday May 31, 2019 from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. The family will receive visitors at the church from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Saturday prior to the services. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday June 1, 2019 at New Beginnings Church of God in Christ 3106 Moffett Road, Crighton, Alabama 36607 Prophet Darryl Land of Gulf Port, Mississippi officiating.het Darryl Land of Gulf Port, Mississippi officiating.
